Cookie Policy

A small number of first-party cookies and storage items. No advertising, no third-party analytics, no tracking across other sites.

Last updated: Version: 2026-10-02

1.What this policy covers#

Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. Websites can also keep data in your browser’s local storage and session storage. This policy lists every item PromptAbide stores on your device, what it is for, and how long it lasts.

The short version

All our cookies and storage are first-party: set by promptabide.com, for promptabide.com. We use no advertising or third-party tracking cookies, and we never follow you around other websites. The only measurement we do is our own, and it stores something in your browser only if you switch Analytics on.

2.Cookies and storage we use#

pa_announcementsLocal storagePreferenceRemembers which site announcements you have already seen or closed while signed out, so they are not shown again. Without preference storage it is kept in session storage and forgotten when you close the tab.Until you clear it; entries for ended announcements are removed automatically
pa_vidLocal storageAnalyticsA random ID for this browser. Lets us see which link or campaign first brought you here and, if you sign up, attribute the sign-up to it. Not shared with anyone.Until you turn analytics off or clear it
pa_vid_userLocal storageAnalyticsNotes that this browser's ID has already been linked to your account, so it is not sent again.Until you turn analytics off or clear it
View de-duplication key (one per bide)Session storageStrictly necessaryStops a single visit from counting as several views of the same bide.Until you close the tab

Strictly necessary items are needed for something you asked for, such as signing in, remembering your cookie choice or delivering notifications you turned on. The law does not require consent for them, and the site does not work properly without them.

Preference items remember choices you made, such as dark mode. They are optional. If you reject non-essential cookies, the site still works; it just may not remember those choices between visits.

Analytics items are off unless you opt in. They are our own measurement, not a third-party tool: a random ID kept in your browser lets us see which link or campaign brought a visit, and whether it led to a sign-up. If you leave Analytics off, we still count that a visit arrived from a given link or site, but that count stores nothing in your browser, holds no IP address and cannot be tied to you or your account.

The “marketing” category in our cookie banner is reserved. We do not use it today. If we ever do, it will stay off unless you opt in, and we will update this page first.

3.Third-party services#

Images and video are served from Cloudinary’s delivery network, and push notifications (if you turn them on) use Google Firebase Cloud Messaging. These services receive your IP address and browser details when your browser contacts them, as any web server does, but we do not ask them to set tracking cookies.

If you sign in with Google or GitHub, you visit their sites during sign-in, and they may set their own cookies under their own policies.

4.How to change your choice#

When you first visit, a banner asks which optional items you allow: Accept all, Reject non-essential, or Customize. We store your answer in the pa_consent cookie for 180 days, then ask again. You can change your mind at any time:

You can also use the “Cookie settings” link in the footer of every page.

  • Browser controls: every browser lets you view and delete cookies and site data. Deleting promptabide_auth signs you out.
  • Push notifications: turn them off in your notification settings or your browser’s site settings. This removes the push token.

5.Global Privacy Control#

If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we treat it as a choice to reject all non-essential cookies and storage, and as an opt-out of any sale or sharing of personal data (which we do not do anyway). You do not need to click anything in the banner.

6.The browser extension#

The PromptAbide extension does not set cookies. It reads the website’s promptabide_auth cookie once, with your permission, to sign you in, and keeps its own session in the browser’s extension storage. See the Extension Privacy Policy.

7.Changes and contact#

We update this page whenever we add, remove or change a cookie or storage item. If we add a new optional category, we will ask for your consent again. Questions? Email hello@promptabide.com. For how we handle personal data generally, see the Privacy Policy.
